Goodness, what a week we have coming up! There will be no shortage of events for anyone thirsting for some German or Russian culture to participate in.
So without further ado…
First of all, it’s Major Declaration Week! Sophomores should come by the department this week to declare a German or Russian major or minor:
And then let the good times roll! The department will be holding a celebration of newly declared majors and minors on Thursday, February 8.
Not ready to declare a major/minor? Or maybe you’ve already done so? No worries, there’s plenty more fun to go around.
Check the bulletin board every week for the German trivia question–and WIN prizes!
Chas Peek (Russian Conversation Hour) will be on Tuesday, 4-5pm, in Greene 341. All levels of Russian, including no Russian at all, are welcome!
And then there will be not one but two opportunities to speak German on Wednesday:
Kaffeestunde 4-5pm in Greene 341
And Stammtisch 8:30-10pm at Krankie’s.
And now for something a little different…
Russian students are invited to a screening of Fyodor Bondarchuk’s hit movie “9th Company,” often compared to “Full Metal Jacket” and “Apocalypse Now,” based on true events in the Soviet-Afghan war. Wednesday 6pm, Greene 341. Refreshments will be provided.
But wait, there’s more!
New Majors and Minors could get pizza AND a concert all on the same night!
Whew, that’s a lot! But don’t worry–if for some reason you can’t make it, we’ve got more events planned next week!
